Connecticut Dance Theatre,Inc. (CDT) was founded in 1989 by Artistic Director, Donna Bonasera as a nonprofit arts organization. The mission and purpose is to provide quality training, education and performances of dance and other related art forms. CDT is committed to recognizing, encouraging and developing each student leaving them with a positive self image, sense of discipline and respect for the performing arts for all to enjoy and experience
CDT has served a leadership position in preserving and evolving dance and the arts regionally, nationally and internationally. The basis of the CDT philosophy is to train and educate dance professionals and to instill in others an appreciation of dance as an art form and as a recreational activity. Throughout the history of the organization, students trained at Connecticut Dance Theatre have gone on to professional careers in some of the most prestigious ballet companies throughout the world, as well as featured performers on Broadway and film. Currently, alumni serve as directors of influential arts organizations, not only Connecticut, but around the world.
Generations have received scholarships to collegiate programs to further their education in the arts. Since its founding, CDT has had a successful history of long-standing and extensive collaborations with community projects and other arts organizations Dance masters have come from all over the world to teach and share their skills, reaching and inspiring hundreds of students.
